Accompanying Presentations

We offer the following possibilities of presentation to registered conference participants as well as to all those who cannot participate in the conference.

Posters (up to 2 pieces)

• presentation of activities, departments, projects and products in the form of posters
• no fee for registered participants; 750 CZK, approx. 30 €, for others;
• poster size: A0 maximum;
• methods of delivery to organizers:
  • send by the mail,
  • give to conference organizers during registration (till 11 am on 9 February 2011),
  • send print-ready posters in digital form to organizers via web form (see below),
• announcement deadline: 24 January 2011.

Topical presentations exhibition (up to 1 exhibition per 1 sending organization)

• Developers and producers of technological solutions, hardware, software and study materials will have an opportunity to present their solutions and products at stalls situated next to presentation posters;
• fee: 1250 CZK, approx. 50 € – the fee covers the rent for basic furniture equipment (tables and chairs), technical equipment (data and power connection, hire of technical devices), equipment for presentations (panels for posters), and decorations;
• please, announce the request of your presentation via web form (see below);
• announcement deadline: 31 December 2010.

Registered participants of the conference may announce their request of offered presentation spaces via the web form in the personal agenda Your account, at the address

Topical workshops

• We offer seminar rooms and classrooms where you may organize short workshops, seminars or round table discussions following your conference presentation to present your activities, supplementary methodical demonstrations of your didactic work, communication and practical services, or to discuss special topics outside the basic topical sections;
• announcement deadline: 31 December 2010.

Welcome party

The opening social evening will take place in the Hotel International. There will be a buffet, excellent Czech beer, a selection of wines from the South Moravian region (one of Europe’s most famous white wine regions) and an exhibition celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Teiresias Centre. University officials, founders of the Centre, and honorary guests will open the event.

Guided wine tasting with sommelier

We would like to invite you to a guided wine tasting with a sommelier which takes place in the wine bar U Královny Elišky at Mendlovo náměstí.

The cellar of what is now the wine bar U Královny Elišky (Queen Elisabeth's) came into existence together with a Cistercian monastery that was founded by the queen dowager Elisabeth Richenza of Poland (in Czech Eliška Rejčka). In 1965, following a reconstruction and adjustment, the operation of wine booths for rent and regular wine tastings run by Moravian wine companies was started. The wine bar also serves traditional Moravian dishes, specialties of international cuisine and fish delicacies.

Gala dinner

Czech cuisine is certainly not one of those that attracts world's gourmets' attention but, nonetheless, there is a discreet restaurant in an overlooked area in Brno which attracts the attention of European specialists, although it is based on the Czech-Austrian culinary tradition. Restaurant U Kastelána (The Castellan's) proves that a bold revitalization of a historic industrial architecture combined with a creative renaissance of the Czech culinary traditions may lead to truly remarkable results. We would like to invite you, on behalf of the Minister of Education and the Rector of Masaryk University, to the restaurant U Kastelána for the closing gala dinner.

Transport:

• Tram 1 (from the tram stop Hlavní nádraží – Railway station, or Moravské náměstí, direction Řečkovice)
• Tram 6 (from the tram stop Česká, direction Královo Pole nádraží)

Get off at the tram stop Pionýrská and turn left (in the tram's direction) into the Kotlářská street . Walk up a small hill and after 60 meters turn right and go through a passage between houses to the restaurant U Kastelána.

If you would like us to provide bus transportation for you, please let us know at the conference registration desk by Thursday, 10 February 2011, 12 o'clock, at the latest. The bus departs from the Hotel International at 5.30 p.m.

Augustinian monastery in Old Brno and Mendel Museum

Conference participants and guests are invited to visit the Augustinian monastery in Old Brno, including the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Mendel Museum, which are its part. The monastic complex, originally Cistercian, is the work of Elizabeth Richeza (1288–1335), granddaughter of Valdemar I, King of Sweden, daughter of Premyslas II, King of Poland, wife of two Czech kings – Wenceslas II, the last of the Premyslid dynasty, and Rudolph, the first of the Habsburgs. Her work made Brno one of European spiritual centers, and later, although only briefly, even the seat of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (Jobst of Moravia was a Roman Emperor from 1410 until his death in 1411). The abolition of the Cistercian monastery by the enlightened ruler Joseph II of Habsburg was not an end of the famous history of the monastic complex. The monastery became and has remained the property of the Augustinians, and in the ranks of its abbots had such men as the founder of modern genetics, Gregor Johann Mendel. The Augustinian musical foundation funds supported personalities such as Leoš Janáček, who was a director of the convent choir. The program begins in the monastery at 10 am, transport from the hotel to the monastery and back is provided by a historic tram.
